WEST WALL & THE EAR

Depth: 10 - 40m+; Ability Level: Intermediate; Travel Time: 2.5 hours
The topography around this island is sloping reef dropping off to majestic vertical walls, with sandy slopes in between. In the shallow zones you may encounter schooling barracuda, jacks and Napoleon wrasse. The wall drops off to depths well beyond recreational dive limits, so caution is required, but the coral and fish displays, as well as the epic topography, are striking. At the deeper depths on The Ear, eagle rays, sharks, and a fabulous swim-through are the attractions. The sandy areas should not be neglected, since large manta rays (4 to 6m wide) can be found during plankton blooms, and vast colonies of garden eels, titan and yellow-edged triggerfish are abundant. These sites are considered intermediate level due to potential depths and currents.
