Night in Coron Bay

Coron on Busuanga in North Palawan is a treasure trove of dive sites, including the unusual Barracuda Lake, but the major attractions are the wrecks of the Japanese supply fleet sunk in 1944. Calypso Diving offer short safaris, day trips and unlimited diving liveaboard options for the Coron dive sites.

With transfers between Coron and Boracay of just 40 minutes, you can also choose to visit both locations in one flexible package. We can arrange scheduled transfers for you, and if you wish we can even charter a private seaplane if you'd like to travel in ultimate style!

Calypso Coron also provide PADI courses for Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver Specialty, extending your bottom time, and Wreck Diver Specialty, allowing you to fully enjoy these world-class wrecks using safe penetration techniques.

IRAKO

Depth 28 - 43m. Probably the best wreck dive in the Philippines, this 147m long ship is still quite intact and is home to big groupers, turtles, schools of tuna and jacks. Also a deep penetration through the engine room for those trained and equipped.

OKIKAWA MARU

Depth 10 - 26m. The largest of the Coron wrecks at 168m long, the ship is totally covered in beautiful corals, with schools of snapper and batfish. Currents are often present, which encourage the most impressive fish displays.

AKITSUSHIMA

Depth 26 - 35m. The 118m long seaplane carrier still has the crane and part of an anti-aircraft gun intact, but the damage is extensive so no swim-throughs should be attempted without training. Giant groupers, schooling barracuda and yellow-fin tuna can be seen.

KOGYO MARU

Depth to 34m. This ship lies on her starboard side and offers swim-throughs into all six holds, one containing an encrusted bulldozer, the engine room and bridge area. On the port side there are soft corals and plentiful fish, including schooling barracuda.

OLYMPIA MARU

Depth 18 - 30m. This 122m long ship in an upright position offers easy penetration at the cargo room and a good variety of marine life, including batfish, giant puffers and scorpionfish.

TAIEI MARU

Depth 12 - 25m. The name of this wreck is still uncertain. A beautiful dive with groupers, sweetlips, trumpetfish, scorpionfish, the occasional turtle and sea snake. The big cargo rooms allow easy penetration for those trained and there are two massive boilers at the centre of the ship.

TANGAT GUN BOAT

Depth 3- 22m. Ideal for new wreck divers, photographers and even snorkellers due to the shallowness of the bow of this 40m long ship.

LUSONG GUN BOAT

Depth 0 - 11m. This gun boat is great for snorkelling as well as diving since the stern breaks the surface at low tide and is covered with corals and fish life. Great for photographers.

KYOKUZAN MARU

Depth 22 - 40m. A beautiful wreck dive with cars and trucks found in the cargo room, and usually with good visibility.

BARRACUDA LAKE

Depth 4 - 35m. After a 10 minute climb up the cliffs, you are rewarded with this spectacular dive over unusual underwater terrain, through thermo- and haloclines. The site was named after the friendly 1.5m barracuda living in the lake.

CATHEDRAL CAVE

Depth 6- 12m. A sea cave under Coron Island with lobsters and cowry shells. The cave opens out into a big underground cathedral and there is an additional chamber with an air pocket. Only attempted in calm weather.
